Chef Brad Turley may not be Mexican, but his step-mother is, and he grew up cooking just north of the border. In short, he knows his Mex from his Tex. This smart restaurant converts standard tacos, burritos and chimichangas into classy mod-fusion classics. The presentation may be sophisticated, but the flavours and ingredients are wholly authentic. Maya's accompanying salsas, moles and guacamoles are superb. Background salsa beats add a sense of fun, but the comfy dining chairs, hardwood tables, coloured chandeliers - and mid-range prices - means this is no downtown South of the Border diner.
